Following Chelsea's humiliating 4-2 defeat at home against Wolves, Mauricio Pochettino took responsibility for the loss and offered his apologies to the fans. He admitted that his team's performance was not up to par and acknowledged that his own job security is now in question.

The defeat pushed Chelsea down to 11th place in the standings, and the frustration from the home crowd was palpable. Raheem Sterling faced boos from the fans when he was substituted, while some supporters directed their anger towards Pochettino near the dugout. A section of the crowd even chanted for Roman Abramovich, the former owner of the club, and José Mourinho, who is currently available after his dismissal by Roma.

In addition to the chants expressing frustration, there were also mocking chants regarding the team's performance and Mauricio Pochettino. Although Pochettino's position as head coach is not believed to be immediately at risk, he quickly took responsibility for the defeat and acknowledged his own shortcomings.

“We are not good enough [today],” the Argentinian said. “Myself, also. I’m responsible for this situation. What we showed today was not good enough. We didn’t manage the situation properly and of course no one can be safe. I don’t want to come here and say I am the best. We’re all responsible.

“The players need to take responsibility like I take responsibility. At the moment we’re not matching the history of the club. That’s true. We need to accept it, be critical but we cannot give up. We’ll work hard to change. If it’s not working in this way, we need to move on and find a different solution.”

Mauricio Pochettino acknowledged that his players were feeling nervous during the match and emphasized the importance of unity. He recognized that the fans expected better from Chelsea and expressed the team's apologies for their disappointing performance. Pochettino called for everyone to come together and fight as a collective unit. He understood that criticism and anger from the fans were justified but highlighted the youthfulness of his team and the need for support.

Following the game, Thiago Silva's wife, Belle Silva, took to social media to suggest that Chelsea needed to make changes. She posted a message indicating that it was time for the club to take action, as waiting any longer might be detrimental. Chelsea is scheduled to face Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

Wolves secured their first victory at Stamford Bridge since 1979 with an own goal from Axel Disasi and a hat-trick from Matheus Cunha. Despite falling behind 1-0, the Wolves team displayed resilience, unity, and quality to turn the match around. Manager Gary O'Neil praised his players for their determination and ability to stick together in the face of expectations for a Chelsea win.
