Everton vs Liverpool results: Reds thrash Toffees at Goodison Park

Everton v Liverpool Preview
Before the match happened, Liverpool came to Goodison Park as the winners. They have won the latest 3 games in all competitions. In the 2021-22 Premier League, Jurgen Klopp’s squad have had 8 wins, 4 draws, and only a loss. They are standing third in the Premier League with just 2 points less than the top team Chelsea.
On the other hand, Everton are having a series of bad performances with 6 losses after 13 games. Considering both performances and players’ quality, the Toffees are really difficult to earn even 1 point from their neighbors.
Everton 1-4 Liverpool
As it be, Liverpool showed off their overwhelming strength compared to Everton in the Merseyside derby. Taking the advantage of playing on the Goodison Park home stadium, Everton subjectively played attacking instead of defending. Thus, their performance in the beginning minutes was pretty good and firm. Liverpool attacked repeatedly to the opponents’ domain as well. The Reds had the best players in the Premier League so that they easily controlled the game and made Everton’s defense in trouble.
Just 9 minutes after the beginning whistle had been resounded, the visiting team had the opening goal. From the perfect assist of Andrew Robertson, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson left footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom left corner, and then that was 1-0 for the Reds. The 31-year-old midfielder is the first one of Liverpool who both scores and assists in a match at Goodison Park since Steven Gerrard’s in 2005.

In the 19th minute, another goal came to the Kop. Jordan Henderson continued playing impressively after completing his first goal. He assisted Mohamed Salah following a fast break and the 11-number did not miss his chance to double the scoring for the team. Salah shot by his left foot from the right side of the box to the top left corner, knocking out Everton’s goalie once again.
The home team tried to counterattack at the end of the first half, and they also got success with a surprising goal in the 38th minute. Richarlison và Demarai Gray coordinated perfectly. Demarai Gray speeded up to pass Joel Matip and finished with a shot, beating goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The first half ended with a 2-1 score for the visiting team.
Into the second half, Everton continued playing well, making pressure on Alisson. However, they once again let the Red score before finding another chance to equalize the game. In the 64th minute, Liverpool had their third goal thanks to a speed counterattacking. Salah occupied the ball from Seamus Coleman’s confusing act and skillfully finished with his speed and vision, knocking out Everton’s Jordan Pickford.
Andy Robertson also had a wonderful day when earning the second assist in the 78th minute. Diogo Jota scored a shot from a difficult angle on the left to the top left corner of the net to confirm the 4-1 win for the Reds.
Liverpool thrash Everton
Everton had no chance to earn any points against a strong rival like Liverpool. They tried to find more goals but were hopeless in front of the solid defense of the Reds. With this result, Liverpool is still standing third on the Premier League table with 31 points, which is 1 point less than the top 2 Man city with 32 points and 2 points less than the top 1 Chelsea with 33 points. Whereas, Everton are in crisis with just 15 points after 14 games to stand 14th in the rank.
Man of the Match
Mohamed Salah was evaluated as the best player in the match. His double helped the Reds to a breathtaking 4-1 Merseyside derby win over Everton, their biggest in the EPL at Goodison Park.
Until now, he has scored 13 Premier League goals this season, 9 of which have come away from home. This achievement is more than double the number of any other player so far (Firmino and King - 4). In addition, he's the first Liverpool player to register a goal or assist in seven consecutive away appearances in the competition.
