The Premier League’s Big Teams are shaping up ahead of the new season

Euro 2020 finished after breaking English hearts so hard but a new Premier League season is starting. All members of the league have been back to training camps with the aim to gain this highest football title in England. Let’s see how the Premier League’s biggest teams are preparing for their line-ups!

Ahead of the new season, Betimate takes a look at how the big sides at the Premier League are shaping up, what parts they are expecting to improve, and which players are helping them. 

Premier League 2021-22

Manchester City

Manchester City are the defending champions of the Premier League. They won persuasively with 86 points in the 2020-21 season. Obviously, coach Pep Guardiola and his players will do everything to save this title.

Which new players have signed for the club?

Young players Metinho and Kayky from Fluminense FC are the two additions that the Citizens have made in this window. They are considered promising futures for the club.

Which players have left the club?

After the end of the 2020-21 Premier League season, the Citizens’ record goalscorer Sergio Aguero and defender Eric Garcia left the club and moved to Barcelona to play in La Liga. In addition, Angelino, Adrian Bernabe, and Felix Nmecha have finished their agreements with other clubs. 

This coming season, Manchester City will also not have the servings of Taylor Harwood-Bellis and  Alexander Robertson because of their loan deals in turn with Anderlecht and Ross County.

What do Manchester City need?

The only striker of the City now is Gabriel Jesus and Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, and Ferran Torres can play well through the middle. Guardiola has persisted that it would be difficult to sign Harry Kane (Tottenham) or Erling Haaland (Dortmund) this summer as a replacement for their former striker Kun Aguero despite the club’s strong interest in both. 

They have their eye on Aston Cilla captain Jack Grealish but the cost for him is also around £100m.

Which new players have signed for the club?

Goalkeeper Tom Heaton from Aston Villa has officially come to Old Trafford stadium on a free transfer deal. Some days ago, Jadon Sancho from Dortmund has agreed on a £73m deal in principle to join the Red Devils.

Which players have left the club?

Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira were released at the end of their contracts. Whereas, the future of Jesse Lingard is still uncertain after his impressive loan spell with West Ham. 

What do Manchester United need?

The Red Devils need to sign a center-back partner for Harry Maguire in case of completing the Sancho deal. Raphael Varane of Real Madrid is on the verge of signing the club. 

They have also considered linking with Harry Kane and Eduardo Camavinga but neither of them is not cheap. The Old Trafford owners may wait to boost those areas until Paul Pogba’s future is determined.

Coach Jurgen Klopp quickly signing a deal with RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate wasting no time at the start of the window. Last season, because of the injuries of the main defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip, the defensive line of the Reds was in crisis. 

Which players have left the club?

The biggest departure for Liverpool is midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum. He left the club and joined PSG on a free transfer after his contract at Old Trafford expired. Goalkeeper Kamil Grabara and forward Joe Hardy deals were also released. 

On the other hand, Sepp van den Berg and Adam Lewis are moving to Preston and Livingston next season.

What do Livepool need?

The priority of Liverpool is finding a perfect replacement for Wijnaldum. Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus and Lille's Renato Sanches are linked with the club. 

The Reds will also be without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, necessitating the acquisition of backup striker options.


Chelsea are the defending winners of the UEFA Champions League but they only stand at the fourth position in the rank of the best Premier League teams last season. They also need to change to be better this new season.

Chelsea spent a whopping £230m last summer but they are yet to make any new signings under Thomas Tuchel.

Which players have left the club?

This season, a sequence of The Blues’ players such as Fikayo Tomori, Victor Moses, Billy Gilmour,  Willy Caballero, and Marco van Ginkel has left the club. Izzy Brown and Pierre Ekwah Elimby also finished their transfers to Preston and West Ham respectively.

What do Chelsea need?

Last season, Chelsea struggled in front of goals, so bringing in a striker is a top priority. News released that the Blues are one of the three teams interested in signing Dortmund star Erling HaalandTammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Hakim Ziyech are also attacking players that the club is noticing.

Which new players have signed for the club?

The Foxes have made two qualified signings already with RB Leipzig striker Patson Daka and Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare. They have had wonderful seasons with their former clubs.

Which players have left the club?

Defender Wes Morgan announced to retire and Christian Fuchs also released. The lack of these defenders may make Leicester meet some trouble in finding replacements.

Whereas, Josh Knight joined Peterborough and Matty James was on loan with Bristol City.

What do Chelsea need?

Arsenal are interested in signing James Maddison, but Leicester FC will not allow him to leave until a large amount is paid. If they are persuaded to sell the offensive midfielder, they will have to find a suitable successor. 

Manager Brendan Rodgers will also be looking in some defensive cover for Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana, and Caglar Soyuncu.
