[Premier League Prediction] Liverpool vs Chelsea Prediction: Before the early Saturday kickoff between Jürgen Klopp and Graham Potter's team at Anfield, we provide a preview of the Premier League matchup between Liverpool and Chelsea, along with our match preview prediction.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Prediction: Desire to win

On Thursday night, Liverpool welcomes Chelsea to the Premier League as two clubs eager to recover from derby day losses square off. Chelsea has just defeated Liverpool, and when these two teams square off, there is generally a victor.

Liverpool form

Liverpool may find comfort in the knowledge that this Saturday's game will be played at home despite the back-to-back losses to start the year. In their past 32 Premier League games at Anfield, they have only lost one, scoring 79 goals overall at an average of 2.5 goals per game.

Even if two of those three wins did occur at Anfield in 2019 and 2020, the home team has only prevailed in three of the previous 17 Premier League meetings between the two clubs (seven draws and seven defeats).

Liverpool form

Last weekend, Liverpool traveled to Brighton, but they may as well have remained home after the home teams won 3-0. All of the goals were scored in the second half, with Welbeck, a former Manchester United forward, hitting the winning goal nine minutes from time after scoring twice in a six-minute span for the march. This weekend, the hosts are concerned about injuries to Diaz, Jota, van Dijk, Melo, Nunez, and Firmino, although Nunez could be able to join the team for the Chelsea match.

Chelsea form

The Chelsea team's away-day blues have previously been mentioned briefly, but they are actually pretty severe. For the first time since they won four straight games in October when they beat West Ham, Crystal Palace, Wolves, and Aston Villa after losing to Southampton, they are attempting to win successive Premier League games.

Chelsea's form

Chelsea had to beat Crystal Palace at home, regardless of how they did it. Graham Potter's team eventually earned three much-needed points on the strength of a lone goal from Havertz, but they will need to build on this performance against Liverpool. Felix is suspended, and Kante, Sterling, Zakaria, James, Wesley Fofana, Chilwell, Broja, and Mendy are still out injured.

Liverpool vs Chelsea H2H Stats

We're going to conveniently disregard the two cup finals between these two teams from last season (both of which went to penalties and were won by the Reds) and instead concentrate on their most recent Premier League encounter, which took place more than a year ago.

All four goals were scored in the opening period, with Mohamed Salah scoring his 14th goal in London to give the Reds a 2-0 lead and become the club's all-time leading Premier League scorer in the city. However, despite being in such a strong position, Liverpool would lose the game for the second time in the 2021–2022 season. The other time was a matchup with Brighton & Hove Albion, who were coached by Graham Potter.

Liverpool vs Chelsea H2H Stats

Mateo Kovai and Christian Pulisic's responses for the Blues were separated by only 245 seconds in what would turn out to be the second of four consecutive draws the teams played out in competitive matches, despite the fact that this match had never been drawn in three straight league encounters.

Sadio Mané's booking in the first 15 seconds of a Premier League game since 2006-2007 made the match noteworthy as well, albeit it was still a long way from Vinnie Jones' efforts for Sheffield United against Manchester City in 1990.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Current Odds

Let's take a look at the latest markets and odds ahead of Liverpool vs Chelsea.

  • Handicap Odds: Liverpool (0.89) / Chelsea (1.04)
  • 1x2 Odds: Liverpool (1.82) / Draw (4.20) / Chelsea (4.20)

Salah and Nunez both have odds of 5/1 (6.00) - 16.7% if you wish to bet on a First Goalscorer in Saturday's early game. Firmino is the next best bet at 13/2 (7.50) - 13.3%.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Betting Tips

Under 2.5 Goals

Under 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the past six league and cup meetings between these two teams. You can understand why we anticipate a low-scoring 90 minutes at Anfield given that Chelsea's past five league games have generated under 2.5 goals and Liverpool's midweek FA Cup replay with Wolves similarly concluded with fewer than three goals scored.

Draw

Over 2.5 goals have been scored on four of the previous five occasions that Liverpool has hosted Chelsea. We expect goals on Thursday as well because three of Liverpool's previous six league and cup games have seen at least three goals scored, while Chelsea's last two away games in the Premier League have both seen four goals.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Best Tips From Betimate

  • Liverpool’s attacking talents could prove a difference

Liverpool still has excellent offensive alternatives, none more so than star Mo Salah, despite their defensive shortcomings. The Egyptian, who has scored seven goals in his previous 12 appearances, appears to be a threat to Chelsea once more after scoring seven goals against the Blues in the past.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Best Tips From Betimate

Trent Alexander-Arnold has fallen short of the assist totals he posted in previous campaigns, but the right-back has been unfortunate in doing so; his expected assist tally of 3.8 is far behind his actual total of just one, and if he continues to produce quality chances, his teammates should start to convert them.
