Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Xabi Alonso's agent, Inaki Ibanez, according to Bild (via The Express). However, it is expected that Alonso will choose to stay at Bayer Leverkusen rather than making a move to the Premier League.

Alonso still has two years remaining on his contract with Leverkusen, having taken over as manager in October 2022. In his first season in charge, he successfully guided the team out of relegation danger and into European competition, where they comfortably progressed from a group featuring Qarabag, Molde, and Hacken.

While Alonso remains an option for Liverpool, they are also considering other candidates. Ruben Amorim, who has been achieving impressive results with Sporting CP in Portugal, and Julian Nagelsmann, the former Bayern Munich manager currently in charge of the German national team, are among the names being considered.
