The first transfer deals of Arsenal Women in the winter transfer window

Victoria Pelova
Following her permanent transfer from Ajax, Victoria Pelova has become the first January signing for Arsenal Women. Jonas Eidevall witnessed the 23-year-old playing against Arsenal in the Champions League, similar to Laura Wienroither and Kaylan Marckese from the previous campaign. At Euro 2022, where Eidevall was a commentator, the midfielder also participated for the Netherlands, scoring in a 4-1 victory over Switzerland. After Jordan Nobbs' departure and the loss of Vivianne Miedema due to an ACL injury, Pelova enters as a crucial depth player.
Following making her debut in professional football at ADO Den Haag, she spent the last three and a half years at Ajax. Pelova has accumulated 31 international caps and made it to the quarterfinals of the Euro 2021 tournament as well as the final of the Dutch World Cup team in 2019.
Victoria Pelova become Arsenal's player
About signing with Arsenal, Victoria Pelova showed her happiness:
"I’m delighted to have signed for Arsenal. I’ve always admired this club and dreamed of following in the footsteps of some of the great Dutch players who have worn the shirt. I can’t wait to get going and start contributing to the team."
Head coach Jonas Eidevall added: "It’s fantastic news that we’ve signed Victoria. I think she’s one of the most exciting young players in the game, and she will bring added dynamism and energy to our midfield. I’m looking forward to working with Victoria, and I think our supporters are going to love watching her in an Arsenal shirt."
Head of women’s football, Clare Wheatley, said: "We’re very pleased to have secured the signing of Victoria. She is one of the best young talents in European football and someone we have been tracking for some time. I know she will be an exciting addition to our squad, and I look forward to watching her link up with her teammates soon."
Kathrine Kuhl
With the announcement that 19-year-old Danish midfielder Kathrine Kuhl has joined the team from FC Nordsjaelland, Arsenal Women have made their second signing in less than 24 hours. On Friday, Victoria Pelova of Ajax was officially announced.
The midfielder made her national team debut for Denmark in April 2021 and has now earned 21 caps for her nation, including appearances at the UEFA Women's European Championship last summer.
Since Jordan Nobbs was recently transferred to Aston Villa, Kuhl, one of the best players in Scandinavia, strengthens the team even further.
"I’m very excited and am looking forward to playing for Arsenal. It’s a big step for me. I feel like there are so many great things around the club—all the fans and the community—that it’s like a sisterhood in some way. So I’m looking forward to being a part of that. " - Kathrine said.
Kathrine Kuhl is the next contact of Arsenal Women in the winter transfer window
Head Coach Jonas Eidevall also showed the importance of Kuhl’s deal:
"Kathrine is one of the brightest talents in Europe, so we’re delighted to have brought her to Arsenal. She will bring added creativity to our midfield, and I’m sure she will benefit from working closely with some of our more experienced players. I’m looking forward to working with her here at Arsenal moving forward."
Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: "We’re delighted to have brought Kathrine to Arsenal. She is one of the most highly rated young footballers in the game and fits the profile of player we want to bring to the club perfectly. I’m sure our supporters will join me in welcoming Kathrine to our club."
