Arsenal rallied late to hold Southampton to a 3-3 draw, preserving their chances of winning the league. However, Manchester City still has the lead in the championship race going into their matchup on Wednesday after being winless in three Premier League games.

Arsenal vs Southampton Highlights

Arsenal had not done well in their previous two games, with two draws that cost them four points. Despite this, they were still expected to win against Southampton, who are struggling at the bottom of the league. However, something almost unbelievable happened when Rubén Sellés' team took the lead just 27 seconds into the game. This happened when Aaron Ramsdale, the Arsenal goalkeeper, passed the ball directly to Carlos Alcaraz from a goal-kick, and Alcaraz scored by curling the ball into the top left corner of the goal. The Emirates Stadium, where the match was held, went silent.

Arsenal vs Southampton Highlights

Things got even worse for Arsenal after 14 minutes when Alcaraz passed the ball to Theo Walcott, a former Arsenal player, who scored a first-time finish to put Southampton in a great position. The Arsenal fans couldn't believe what was happening, and Southampton was having the time of their lives.

Arsenal vs Southampton Summary

The Gunners were still attacking with some purpose and fluidity despite their careless defending, and they quickly got back into the game six minutes later when Gabriel Martinelli's first-time volley for his 15th league goal of the year brought them back into the game. As the half-hour mark approached, the Saints' two-goal lead would have been restored, but Ramsdale was on the ball and produced a deft double save to stop Mohamed Elyounoussi and Alcaraz, keeping the deficit at one going into halftime.

Arsenal vs Southampton Summary

Arsenal understood that a fifth such comeback was essential in their pursuit of league supremacy since they had come back from being behind at halftime on three of the four times this season. With less than 30 minutes left, the north Londoners were dealt a fatal blow when the unmarked Duje Caleta-Car headed home at the far post from a corner to make it 3-1, sending the traveling faithful into raptures. Despite being clearly in the lead after the break, the north Londoners failed to take their chances.

The Gunners seemed to have run out of options, but Martin Odegaard's goal with two minutes left gave them hope, and Saka then brought the house down with his close-range strike to tie the score. This built up an exciting game's end, which unfortunately concluded level to leave both teams feeling let down.
