Coach Postecoglou Takes Responsibility After Spurs' Defeat to West Ham

Gianluca Scamacca struck a goal in the 78th minute, securing a 3-2 victory for West Ham against Tottenham. Just 7 minutes earlier, Spurs impressed with a 2-2 equalizer after falling behind early.

Tottenham showcased an enthralling attacking display with 30 shots and 71% ball possession. Nevertheless, defensive lapses proved costly as West Ham scored 3 goals from their only 4 shots on target throughout the match.

Following the game, Coach Postecoglou took responsibility for the conceded goals.

"The goals we conceded are partly on me. We haven't dedicated enough training time to defensive set-piece situations and structure. I can't expect the players to handle everything perfectly.

I believe our defensive pressure was good, and we limited their chances. However, we don't want to concede goals when they create so few opportunities.

In any case, those are aspects we haven't focused on yet. There's still plenty of work to do on our build-up play to ensure quicker ball transitions, as players are not yet in the right positions. We have several areas to improve. The players will also get fitter over time to play this style of football.

We're still in the early stages. We have about 3 weeks to prepare for the first match. So, we'll keep working hard."
