West Ham vs Newcastle Highlights

Newcastle United further solidified their position in the top-four with a dominant 5-1 win over a struggling West Ham side at the London Stadium.  Callum Wilson opened the scoring just five minutes into the game with a header, followed by Joelinton's goal which was initially disallowed for offside but was later awarded after a VAR review.

West Ham managed to pull one back through Kurt Zouma before halftime, but a mistake by Nayef Aguerd gifted Wilson an easy tap-in for Newcastle's third goal. Despite some impressive saves from Lukasz Fabianski in the second half, he was at fault for Newcastle's fourth goal, allowing Alexander Isak to score. Joelinton completed the scoring with a powerful strike to seal a comfortable victory for Newcastle.

West Ham vs Newcastle Summary

Newcastle United's pursuit of a top-four finish in the Premier League (PL) since 2002/03 gained momentum with a 5-1 victory over relegation-threatened West Ham United at the London Stadium, courtesy of braces from Callum Wilson and Joelinton. West Ham boss, David Moyes, was aware of the importance of building on his side's narrow victory over Southampton, but Newcastle posed a stern test, having won three consecutive PL matches, including a convincing triumph over Manchester United.

Despite the magnitude of the contest for both sides, the early stages were played at a frantic pace. However, the visitors wasted no time in asserting their authority as Allan Saint-Maximin tricked his way beyond Saïd Benrahma and delivered a clever ball into an unmarked Wilson, who headed home. Eight minutes later, Newcastle doubled their lead when Fabian Schär played a perfectly-timed through-ball to Joelinton, who broke the offside trap and rounded Łukasz Fabiański to score.

West Ham vs Newcastle Summary

Kurt Zouma halved the deficit going into the interval, taking advantage of a mistake from Nick Pope. However, West Ham relinquished their momentum within 30 seconds of the restart, allowing Jacob Murphy to set up Wilson for a simple finish. Newcastle pursued further success against a fragile Hammers rearguard, with Łukasz Fabiański denying efforts from Murphy and Saint-Maximin.

Newcastle deepened West Ham's woes with two late goals. Substitute Alexander Isak pounced on a dreadful error from Fabiański to score, before Joelinton scored his second of the night. The result ended West Ham's five-game unbeaten league run on home soil, while Newcastle consolidated their place in the top-four with a fourth consecutive PL victory.
