Kante suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham in the second round of the Premier League on August 14. After a slow recovery, the 31-year-old midfielder was re-injured on the training field last week. According to L'Équipe, Kante's injury will prevent him from recovering in time for the 2022 World Cup, which begins on November 20.

Kante got a hanstring injury when Chelsea played agaisnt Spurs.

During the press conference before the match between Chelsea and Aston Villa in the 10th round of the Premier League on October 14, coach Graham Potter confirmed Kante's injury re-occurrence, but did not elaborate on the severity. "We need a thorough investigation, accurate diagnosis, appropriate counseling, to help Kante find full fitness and enjoy football," he said.

Losing Kante will be a heavy loss for the French team before defending the title at the 2022 World Cup. Paul Pogba - another key midfielder of the French team - is also injured and is unlikely to recover in time to go to Qatar.

According to British newspaper Sportmail , coach Didier Deschamps and his squad may travel to Qatar without both star midfielders, who are very crucial in the journey to winning the 2018 World Cup. In September, the 54-year-old coach himself stated that he would not call up any injured players, even though they are the mainstay of the team.

Les Bleus may not have both Kante and Pogba at 2022 World Cup.

Despite the absence of both Kante and Pogba, Deschamps still a number of quality midfield options to replace, such as Eduardo Camavinga , Aurelien Tchouameni (Real), Matteo Guendouzi (Marseille), Adrien Rabiot (Juventus) or Youssouf Fofana (Monaco). Deschamps is expected to announce the list of the French squad for the 2022 World Cup on November 9.

For the past three years, Kante has been plagued by injuries. From the 2019-2020 season, the 31-year-old midfielder has missed 27 games, 13 games, and 16 games, respectively. This season, before the injury against Tottenham, Kante also lost the whole pre-season.

Physical problems limit Kane's contribution as much as he wants to Chelsea. Therefore, The French midfielder’s contract is unlikely to be extended and he will leave Chelsea on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer of 2023.

Kante was born in 1991 in Paris, began his professional career with Boulogne in 2011. Then, he joined Leicester City from Caen for $ 7.5 million in 2015. Right in the first season in England, Kante played brilliantly, helping "The Fox" shock the whole world by winning the first Premier League title in the club’s history.

Kante won his first Premier League with Leicester City.

The French player joined Chelsea in 2016 on a 42 million USD deal, with the club winning one more English Premier League title, an FA Cup, a Champions League, a Europa League, a European Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup.
