Cheikh Sarr, the goalkeeper for Rayo Majadahonda, has received a two-match ban after being sent off during Saturday's match against Sestao River. Sarr confronted fans who had racially insulted him, leading to the abandonment of the game, which Sestao were winning 2-1 at the time.

As a result of the incident, Sestao has been awarded a 3-0 victory. However, they have also been given a two-match stadium closure and a €6,001 fine by the disciplinary committee. The committee found that there was racially discriminatory behavior from home fans towards Sarr and that the club failed to take appropriate action to address and prevent such behavior, leading to the punishment.

Sarr, who was born in Senegal, was shown a red card in the 84th minute of the match. Following his dismissal, Rayo Majadahonda refused to continue playing.

In addition to the previous sanctions, Rayo Majadahonda has now been docked three points and fined €3,006 for their decision to walk off the pitch in response to the racial abuse directed at Cheikh Sarr.

The disciplinary committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) determined that Sarr's actions constituted a "minor infraction of conduct contrary to good sporting order" and acknowledged that the confrontation occurred within the context of unacceptable personal aggression.

Sestao, on the other hand, issued a statement denying any racist chants being directed at players during the match. They reiterated their commitment to fighting against racism and xenophobia.

These dual punishments further intensify the ongoing debate surrounding racism in Spanish football. The decision came on the same day that Getafe was ordered to partially close their central stand for three matches due to racist and xenophobic abuse endured by Sevilla manager Quique Sánchez Flores and player Marcos Acuña during a recent LaLiga game.
