During a Saudi Pro League match, Cristiano Ronaldo faced the familiar chants from opposition supporters in support of his Argentine rival, Lionel Messi. Despite scoring a goal and securing a 3-2 victory for his team, Al-Nassr, Ronaldo was evidently unsettled by the chants. In response, he gestured towards his crotch in the direction of the home crowd. This action drew immediate criticism, and it has been reported that Ronaldo has subsequently faced disciplinary consequences for his behavior.

Based on reports from Saudi media, including the Daily Mail, Cristiano Ronaldo has received a two-match suspension and an undisclosed fine for his X-rated gesture towards the crowd. Although the financial penalty may not significantly affect Ronaldo, given his substantial salary of £175 million ($222m) per year, the ban will be a setback for both him and his team. As a result, Ronaldo will be unavailable for Al-Nassr's upcoming league fixture against Al-Hazm and may also miss their AFC Champions League quarter-final match in a week's time.

Cristiano Ronaldo's reaction to the chants on Sunday was indeed unexpected, especially considering that players often choose to ignore abuse from opposing fans. Additionally, the chanting of Lionel Messi's name has become a regular occurrence during Ronaldo's time in the Middle East. It is worth noting that this is not the first time Ronaldo has faced backlash for an X-rated gesture, as he previously avoided punishment for a similar incident involving him grabbing his crotch back in April 2023.

The specifics of Cristiano Ronaldo's suspension have yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that he will spend some time out of action. If the reports from Saudi Arabia are accurate, it suggests that the Portuguese forward may not return to the field until March 7, when Al-Nassr is scheduled to face Al-Raed in a league match.
