Since retiring from playing, Dirk Kuyt has moved into coaching.

Dirk Kuyt has disclosed that he has been in touch with Liverpool and is willing to consider a comeback under new manager Arne Slot.

Kuyt, who played nearly 200 matches and scored over 100 goals for Feyenoord, a club managed by Slot for three years and led to the Europa Conference League final, hinted at his openness to working with his compatriot. Slot joined Liverpool this summer following Jurgen Klopp's departure and has a personal connection with Kuyt, as the former Reds forward's son is part of Feyenoord's academy where Slot coached him.

Currently managing Belgian side Beerschot, Kuyt believes Slot will thrive at Anfield and has maintained communication with the club, suggesting he would consider a potential return.

In an exclusive interview with Ladbrokes 1-2-Free, Kuyt commented, "Arne Slot is a dedicated family man, but he's also deeply passionate about football - it's 24/7 for him. If you listen to his press conferences, he articulates himself very well and speaks with clarity."

"He can be funny sometimes, but he's also very straightforward. He knows everything about football; not only Dutch football, but you could ask him anything about football and I think he could give you an answer. Premier League fans are going to like him.

"Of course, if I can help Liverpool in any way, then I will. I've always been in contact with people at the club. I did some work for the foundation of the club, and I've done some commercial work for them, too. I've always been close with them. On or off the pitch, I've always tried to help the club because when you sign for Liverpool, you become part of a family."

Kuyt has experienced mixed fortunes early in his managerial career. His initial stint with Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag ended with his dismissal in November, where he was succeeded by the renowned Dutch coach Dick Advocaat.

However, his current tenure in Belgium has been far more promising. In his debut season as manager, he guided Beerschot to promotion. As a player, Kuyt, then captain of Feyenoord, initially joined Liverpool in 2006 for an undisclosed fee after scoring an impressive 29 Eredivisie goals.

He made an immediate impact at Anfield, scoring the decisive penalty in the shootout against Chelsea in the 2006/07 Champions League semi-final and a consolation goal in the final where AC Milan prevailed over Liverpool. Kuyt quickly established himself as a player who thrived in crucial moments and contributed to Liverpool winning the League Cup in 2012. He departed that summer to join Fenerbahce in Turkey, amassing 130 appearances for the club.

After returning to Feyenoord, Kuyt retired in memorable fashion by scoring a hat trick to secure the club's first league title since 1999, subsequently hanging up his boots three days later.

Known for his coaching potential, Kuyt could potentially join Arne Slot's coaching staff as Liverpool prepares for their upcoming Premier League campaign under new management.
