Following a series of high-profile deadline day disappointments during the summer transfer window, Bayern Munich find themselves lacking depth in defensive and midfield positions. While there were rumors linking Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu to Bayern, it appears unlikely that the 25-year-old Japanese international will join the Bavarian club.

Tomiyasu, who has showcased his versatility at right-back, left-back, and center-back, possesses the defensive qualities that align with Bayern's requirements. However, reports suggest that Arsenal is keen on extending Tomiyasu's contract, as indicated by The Daily Telegraph's Mike McGrath. As a result, the chances of Tomiyasu making a move to Bayern Munich seem remote at this time.

To fend off interest from Bayern Munich, Arsenal is reportedly preparing to offer Takehiro Tomiyasu a new long-term contract. Tomiyasu has caught the attention of Bayern, who consider him a potential target when their manager, Thomas Tuchel, seeks to strengthen his defensive options in upcoming transfer windows. However, Arsenal is determined to retain the services of the Japanese defender and is actively working on securing his future with the club.

Simon Collings from The Evening Standard has confirmed the earlier reports, indicating that the potential transfer of Takehiro Tomiyasu to Bayern Munich is highly unlikely to materialize.

Arsenal has made it clear that they will reject any approach from Bayern Munich for Takehiro Tomiyasu. Despite the German giants being linked with a potential January move to strengthen their defense, Arsenal considers Tomiyasu to be a valuable member of their squad and has no intentions of selling the defender.

While Bayern Munich's interest in Takehiro Tomiyasu is notable, the practicality of pursuing a transfer for the Japanese star may be limited. Tomiyasu is expected to participate in the January Asian Cup, along with Bayern's Kim Min-jae.

Additionally, two other Bayern defenders, Noussair Mazraoui and Bouna Sarr, are set to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations. This means that if Bayern requires reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window, they may need to act swiftly and secure a player who will be available during January, rather than waiting for Tomiyasu or other players involved in international tournaments.
