Arsenal have begun preparations to find a successor to Edu.

Luis Campos of Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly among the candidates being considered to replace Edu as Arsenal's technical director.

Edu, who has spent five years at the helm, is set to leave the club and is expected to join Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. Despite receiving a late offer to stay in North London, the Brazilian is understood to have declined the proposal.

Several names have been linked with the role, including former Arsenal players Per Mertesacker, Tomas Rosicky, and Gilberto Silva, the latter having held a similar position at Panathinaikos.

Campos, the current sporting director at PSG, is under contract until the end of the season, which could open the door for a potential move to Arsenal.

Sky Sports reports that during the international break, senior Arsenal officials, including manager Mikel Arteta, met with owners Stan and Josh Kroenke, along with other club directors, to discuss future plans. Although the meeting was planned before Edu's departure, potential replacements were reportedly part of the discussions.

Campos isn’t the only name in contention, however. West Ham’s Tim Steidten is said to be of interest, while Roberto Olabe from Real Sociedad, set to leave in the summer, is also being considered. Additionally, Simon Rolfes, who has impressed at Bayer Leverkusen, is another candidate under consideration.

Luis Campos joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022, following successful stints at Monaco and Lille. He succeeded Leonardo as sporting director, marking a reunion with Kylian Mbappe, whom he had worked with during Monaco's title-winning 2016-17 season.

In his two and a half years at PSG, Campos has been instrumental in reshaping the club’s transfer strategy. Under his guidance, the club moved away from signing high-earning veterans like Lionel Messi and Neymar, instead focusing on a younger, more dynamic squad.

In the summer of 2023, PSG added several promising French talents to their ranks, including Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele, and Randal Kolo Muani, while Desire Doue joined in the latest transfer window. With this new-look squad, PSG is aiming for a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title and currently holds a six-point lead over second-place Monaco.
