On December 21st, 2022, Sevilla's homepage announced:

"Sevilla FC have reached an agreement with Isco Alarcón to terminate his contract. The midfielder joined the club last summer on a free after his spell at Real Madrid. Isco made 19 appearances for Sevilla FC, with 12 in LaLiga Santander, six in the UEFA Champions League and one in the Copa del Rey. His solitary goal came against FC Copenhagen, while he also added three assists. The club would like to wish Isco the very best of luck for the future."

Announcement of Sevilla about ending contract with Isco

At the end of May, Isco left Real Madrid, where he played for nine years, because he could not stay in the official squad. After about 2 months of unemployment, Isco joined Sevilla in the summer transfer window of 2022 as a free agent. At that time, the two sides reached an agreement on a contract with a term of June 2024.

However, Isco's journey with the new team did not go as smoothly as expected, especially after Sevilla sacked coach Julen Lopetegui in early October. When there is no support from the 56-year-old coach, the former Real Madrid star continues to fall into an unappreciated situation. Isco's career at Sevilla was also troubled by tensions with Director of Football Monchi. The midfielder also had time to practice alone due to problems related to an ankle injury. He contributed only 1 goal and 3 assists in 19 matches for the Andalusian club. These are clearly insufficient contributions in comparison to Sevilla's faith in Isco when he arrived last August.

Coach Lopetegui's departure caused Isco's career at Sevilla to go downhill

Ending his contract early with Sevilla also means that Isco will soon be a free agent again and can negotiate to join any club without waiting for the winter transfer window to open.

Isco was linked with numerous clubs during the summer 2022 transfer window, and former boss Jose Mourinho was said to particularly want to take him to Roma, but he chose Sevilla. His former manager Lopetegui is now in charge of Wolves, with the club emerging as a possible destination and Mendes having a close relationship with the club. But Isco's high salary demands and the Wolves' pursuit of Atletico Madrid midfielder Matheus Cunha could prevent Isco's arrival.

In the past, this 30-year-old midfielder was repeatedly rumored to be moving to the Premier League to play. Arsenal is another potential option. The Gunners have long been linked with Isco, who seems to fit the role as a Mikel Arteta-style player. The Sun reports that both Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in signing the player on a free basis.

Isco may sign the contact with a club from Premier League

Isco's father, Paco Alarcon, has previously stated that he "wants to try playing in another league," opening up the possibility of a move to the Premier League. It could be his chance to revive his career after a fall in Sevilla.
