Fulham Acquire Palace Defender Andersen

The Cottagers had pursued the 28-year-old throughout the summer, with an initial offer being rejected as Palace sought a fee closer to £40 million. Andersen, who previously spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Fulham, has signed a five-year deal with an option for an additional year.

"It's really nice to be here. It feels a bit like coming home, so it's a great feeling," Andersen commented. "I already knew a lot about the club, their playing style, many of the players, and some of the staff, so I didn't need much convincing."

During his loan spell with Fulham, Andersen made 31 Premier League appearances and scored one goal. He has since made 112 appearances for Crystal Palace after joining from Lyon in the summer of 2021.

Andersen was a key player for Denmark at Euro 2024, featuring in every match of their campaign, which ended with a last-16 defeat to Germany.

Palace's other centre-back, Marc Guehi, has attracted interest from Newcastle, but Eagles chairman Steve Parish indicated it is "unlikely" both defenders will leave this summer. Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed Guehi will lead the team as captain in their upcoming match against West Ham, expressing his expectation that all current players will remain with the club until otherwise notified.
