In a statement issued on Wednesday, the 33-year-old revealed that FUTPRO, the Spanish players' union, will be handling her case. She stated, "My FUTPRO union, in collaboration with my TMJ agency, is taking the lead in safeguarding my interests and serving as intermediaries in this matter."

The union firmly believes that Rubiales' actions infringed upon her rights and has urged the relevant football authorities to take action against the RFEF president. The FUTPRO statement read, "From our association, we urge the Royal Spanish Football Federation to implement the necessary protocols, protect the rights of our players, and enforce exemplary measures."

"It is imperative that our team is represented by individuals who embody the values of equality and respect in all aspects. We must continue to advance in the fight for equality, a cause that our players have championed with unwavering determination, bringing us to where we are today."

"We also call upon the Higher Sports Council [CSD] to actively support and promote prevention and intervention against sexual harassment, abuse, sexism, and chauvinism within the scope of its authority. We reject any behavior or actions that violate the rights of soccer players."

FIFPRO, the global representative organization for professional footballers, endorsed FUTPRO's statement and added their support, stating:

"We strongly emphasize that it is deeply regrettable that an individual, in a position of significant responsibility, tainted such a special moment for the players of the Spain national team in front of a global television audience. Unwanted physical advances towards players, initiated without invitation, are neither appropriate nor acceptable in any context, especially when these players are made vulnerable by someone in a position of power within their workplace."

In the days following Spain's victory in Sydney, where Olga Carmona's first-half goal secured a 1-0 win over England, Hermoso was photographed celebrating in Ibiza.

While the outcome of the independent meeting of the Spanish Football Federation is yet to be determined, it seems that La Roja is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The Spanish team previously faced controversy when several squad members refused to work with coach Jorge Vilda due to his extreme coaching methods.
