Real Madrid flexed their muscles with a 5-0 victory over mid-table Alaves on Tuesday night, featuring a brace from Vinicius Junior. Jude Bellingham opened the scoring just ten minutes in, followed by Vinicius Jr doubling the lead. Federico Valverde made it 3-0 just before the break.

The second half started quietly, but Vinicius Jr eventually netted his second and Real Madrid's fourth. Arda Guler capped off the performance by scoring the fifth goal, potentially demonstrating to Carlo Ancelotti why he should be in the plans for next season.

Jude Bellingham's opener might have looked like an attempted cross, with his volley from a tight angle dropping into the net at the far post, but you can't rule out the idea that the Englishman meant it.

After Vinicius Jr made it 2-0, Real Madrid started to strut their stuff, and a stunning effort from Federico Valverde made it clear there would be no way back for Alaves, despite their recent good form. Valverde was played in on the right and unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.

Vinicius Jr, having a wonderful season, continued to entertain by scoring the fourth goal in the second half. Young Arda Guler then capitalized on a loose ball and fired a well-placed shot into the bottom corner with less than 10 minutes to play.

The win leaves Real Madrid a massive 17 points ahead of second-placed Barcelona, who have a game in hand. For Alaves, the defeat is a setback in their hopes for a top-half finish, but those hopes are not over yet.
