Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor will both return to officiating in Week 6 of the Premier League season.

The league has confirmed that both referees will be in action this weekend following a controversial round of matches. Oliver faced scrutiny during Manchester City's intense 2-2 draw against Arsenal, where he made several contentious decisions. Arsenal was particularly upset after Leandro Trossard received a second yellow card for a questionable incident involving the ball, while City players were frustrated with a foul called on Kyle Walker just before Arsenal scored.

This weekend, Oliver will serve as the video assistant referee for Chelsea's match against Brighton on Saturday, but he will return to the center as the main referee for Southampton's south coast derby against Bournemouth on Monday evening (Sept. 30).

Meanwhile, Taylor resumes his refereeing duties after acting as the fourth official for Brighton's dramatic 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, where he influenced the decision to send off Morgan Gibbs-White. After a controversial match that saw multiple dismissals, Taylor will now referee Liverpool's match against Wolves at Molineux, marking a return to officiating for one of the league's giants. Taylor has officiated more games for Liverpool than any other club in his career, including their recent 3-0 victory over Manchester United earlier this month.

Jones, on the other hand, will not return to a top refereeing role in Week 6; instead, he will serve as the fourth official for Manchester City's away match against Newcastle. The pressure remains high, however, as City looks to secure a win in a challenging environment.

In other fixtures, Chris Kavanagh faces arguably the biggest match of the week, overseeing the clash between a fluctuating Manchester United and Tottenham on Sunday. Kavanagh previously drew attention for controversially sending off Declan Rice during Arsenal's draw with Brighton earlier this season, but the upcoming showdown at Old Trafford could prove to be his toughest challenge yet.
